A Commentary on Malachi 3

Prophet Malachi was the last of the minor Jewish prophets and the book of Malachi is the last book in the OT. At the end of Malachi 2 it mentions how The Lord God of Israel doesn't like it when man covers himself with violence and the advice is to guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith. This follows him talking about divorce and what most people do not realise is that when they are involved in violence in thought, word or deed they become estranged from God. In other words they are divorced from the Spirit of God.

THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT - Malachi 3

In this chapter of the book it begins with the announcement that God will send his messenger who will prepare the way for him.

"See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant that you desire, will come, says the Lord Almighty."

In the New Testement it tells you that the human body is the temple. "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple." 1 Corinthians 3:17

Malachi then goes on to speak about the healing process of spiritual alchemy. 'But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver.

During the mission to Israel in 2006 Eliakim was asked by an Israeli "have you been asked to do any healing work with the Levites?" Eliakim told the truth that she hadn't. In 2007, Abba gave a message about the Levite's and it was delivered by email to the lady that had asked the original question. She was very upset about the message and asked to be removed from the mailing list. It also came to light that we had been working with many Levites on the first mission to Israel. God certainly works in mysterious ways.

THE SCROLL OF REMEMBRANCE

Malachi also mentions a scroll of remembrance and after the gathering on the Holy Hill the beautiful Israeli Levite did give me a copy of what she had written about May 13th. At that time we were asked by the Ancient of Days to always remember UNITY DAY and to celebrate its anniversary. It is only now that I am being shown the importance of this in the scriptures. Once again, in hindsight; prophecy has been fulfilled and it is only year's later that I am led to see it written in the bible.

The chapter continues "And you will again see the distinction, between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not".

HEALING IS UNDER YOUR WINGS

"But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings" It is clear in this passage that God does not state whether this is a woman or a man and can apply to all people who listen and do the will of God.

The Dead Sea Scrolls scholar, Geza Vermes wrote about a divine guide that would be sent to Israel in the last days. “ The scrolls speak of a divine guide sent to Israel in the final days, no doubt identical with 'The Prophet' spoken about by God to Moses. I will raise up for them a prophet like you. He shall convey all my commands to them. The Messianic Prophet was to teach the truth revealed on the eve of the establishment of the Kingdom. it would follow that his part was to all intents and purposes the same as that attributed by the Qumran mystics to the Teacher of Righteousness. In the Resurrection fragment it describes God in the age of the Messiah as healing the wounded and reviving the (spiritually) dead."

"And you will go out and leap like calves leaving the stall."

This sentence is talking about the people leaving the stalls of division that keeps people in separation and estranged from God. These stalls are created in every synagogue that divides men and women, every wall and place of division will come down symbolically when the people leave the places that have created these divisions. As God said "The cosmos is not a one way street" and what people create in the earthly world is also created in their inner world and this can block people from truly experiencing the Kingdom of God.

As Malachi wrote so succinctly, God is waiting for the people to return to him.

The messenger of the covenant is here.

May God bless it.

Eliakim
