IMPACT OF RELIGION ON SOCIETY AND CULTURES

A recent study published in the Journal of Religion and Society, by scientist Gregory S. Paul, looked at the correlation between levels of “popular religiosity” and various “quantifiable societal health” indicators in 18 prosperous democracies, including the United States. He found that most religious democracies exhibited higher degrees of social dysfunction, rates of homicides, sexually transmitted disease, teen pregnancy, abortion and child mortality than societies with larger percentages of atheists and agnostics. Combine this with the study published in 2004 in Sociology of Religion, with results that underscore the importance of looking at the damage and cost to health that religion co-creates.

The study also confirmed that religious people experience more symptoms of depression. Richard P. Sloan, Phd, professor of behavioural medicine at Columbia University and his colleague, Emilla Begiella, Phd assistant professor of clinical public health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, anaylised current medical research in 2000, to determine whether religion provides a health benefit. 83% of 266 of the articles were irrelevant, and those that were relevant had significant methodological flaws, he added that others cited as evidence that religion benefits health, when in fact, their findings were inconclusive. Overall, Sloan concludes, “There is little empirical support for claims of health benefits deriving from religious involvement. To suggest otherwise is inconsistent with the literature.

The more orthodox that people are in their beliefs the more likely they are to experience serious health conditions. This also applies to those that are not religious as well. One can find orthodoxy in many walks of life especially in the sciences and academia, it isn't restricted to religion.

The eye of the needle is very small and few find the narrow gate that is beyond religion and belief. Few realise that belief impacts on biology.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.Matthew 7:13-14

One has to flow in harmonic concordance with the nature of your own being and the cosmos. One can have a sacred union with the divine without being a part of any religion.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.Colossians 2:8

The Christ body is the spiritual body.

"It is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit."1 Corinthians 15:43-45

The last Adam also purveys that the last life is the life of the life giving spirit. This is my last life on this planet.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. Galatians 2:20 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Sanctification comes through healing the soul so that it can merge with the Spirit and become one.

One can appreciate ancient texts without attachment in the same way that one can appreciate all forms of art. Jesus knew that the texts were academic that is why he told people that few would find the narrow gate that leads to life. Why is that ? He was leading people to the narrow gate that assists people to have a healthy consciousness and in so doing he was offering longevity of life. That is another reason why he said that the Apostles and disciples who listened to him and integrated his teachings would not taste death e.g. taste disease like cancers.

Jesus knew that humanity are meant to live 120 years naturally and healthy just like the Essenes. As the Apostle John said there are not enough books in the world to include all the words and deeds of Jesus. Yet, Christians and Muslims think they have the whole truth because it is written in one book.

To be honest I am amazed that the people have not brought 'class action' lawsuits against religion and its leaders for its crimes against humanity. Religions do not point its members to the narrow gate because orthodox leaders cannot enter it due to their attachment to religion. There is little difference between the orthodox and the rich man that refused to let go.

Jesus called the orthodox leaders blind masters who had thrown away the key of knowledge that could assist the people to access the Kingdom of God within. It is the same in other religions none have led the people onto the highway of holiness, none have pointed to the spiritual path that leads to freedom, none have fulfilled the criteria of God as mentioned in the bible by James. How many understand the spiritual law of God?

You may well ask yourselves why does humanity continue to follow religious leaders that have helped to create the mess that the planet is currently in? Indeed, the religious leaders have led the people to the path of destruction and it is imperative that the people do a U turn back to the sacred.

It is time for the religious leaders to retire gracefully and accept that it is the will of God for the people to be shown the true way of God that enables a healthy consciousness. To allow the people to engage in the sacred union with the divine and their spiritual training for those that wish to enter the Kingdom of God.

It is time for the people to choose the right way of ascending the Tree of Life so they too can claim their divine birth right of birthing the Holy Spirit that gives life.

May the will of God be done
