Parable of the Virgins - Bride of Christ

Many American Christians talk about the rapture and very few even mention the Virgins. As we know Mother Mary was called the Virgin and St Clement of Alexandria, the teacher of Origen also wrote that Apostle John was also known as John the Virgin.

So what is a Virgin in spiritual terminology and symbology?

A pure and purified soul who is as white as snow.

How does one become a pure and purified soul?

By healing the self.

The Parable of the Virgins talks about the lamps and the lamp is symbolic of the soul. The oil is the word of God that the soul has received directly. God pours his oil into the lamp of the soul and as Jesus said "The soul is the lamp that lights the way".

Some spiritual people have already entered the bridal chamber and most religious people have not. Many Christians think that the Church is the Bride of Christ. However, this is not the the case; individuals are the 'Bride of Christ' when their souls have risen to that state of purified being. Being a bride of the beloved can be found in the mystical spirituality of other cultures; it is not specific to Christianity because it is part of the initiation passage home to God.

To truly appreciate this mystical reality of the bridal chamber one must experience it for the self when one is ready. When you are ready you are prepared by the angels. As the parable infers being a "Bride of Christ' is not something you can purchase or receive from the Church; because it is a unique experience that is bestowed when your soul is worthy due to your own personal growth, development and purification.

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'

"Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' " 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

"Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!' "But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

THE WEDDING SONG

Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. Hebrews 2:10-12

VERSE OF THE DAY

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”- Matthew 5:14,16
