Day of Authority

Today is the "Day of Authority' and the bible provides us with various verses about authority. The first important one is about taxes.

"Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God of heaven. Why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and of his sons? You are also to know that you have no authority to impose taxes, tribute or duty on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants or other workers at this house of God. And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which you possess, appoint magistrates and judges to administer justice to all the people of Trans-Euphrates—all who know the laws of your God. And you are to teach any who do not know them." Ezra 7:23-25

Once again it is the prophets of God that are given authority by God himself. Prophet Isaiah mentions the authority given to Eliakim.

"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open."Isaiah 22:20-22


Why does God send Eliakim with his authority and the Key of David?

"A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land: he prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end ?" Jeremiah 5:30-31

And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.John 5:27. Son of Man is also another tern for prophet. Prophet Ezekiel and Daniel were both called Son of Man. Please see other posts on this blog called "Son of Man" and "Son of Man" responses.



No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."John 10:18 John 17:2 "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. John 17:2 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.Acts 1:7

He who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:2 In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings.Jude 1:8

THE PROPHECY
Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.1 Corinthians 15:23-25 In Revelation chapter 12 she has the moon under her feet and she is clothed in the sun. The moon is symbolic of the enemies of God and his Son.

Only hold on to what you have until I come. To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'— just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelation 2:25-30 The iron scepter is also mentioned in the Psalms. "You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth."Psalm 2:8-10
