Now some claim that John the Baptist was the prophet that was sent, but John the baptist did not fit the criteria or the timeline either. John the baptist was not the governor, he did not have a mission with the children, nor did he deliver the everlasting covenant or hold the key of David.
In my humble view Malachi 1 is about the USA, the land of ESAU.
Prophecy criteria:
1. The scripture mentions the word 'Hate'. Americans use the word hate more than any other people I have ever come in contact with.
2. Inheritance taken by Desert Jackals = OIL = ISLAM, Sharia Banking and Finance. Islamic scholars claim that their prophet is the one that was promised to Moses and that he was the Messenger of Covenant. However, was the prophet of Islam the governor? No. Did he come before the Day of the LORD? No.

3. Edom says ‘Though we have been crushed we will rebuild the ruins’. The LORD almighty then responds “They will be called the wicked land, a people under the wrath of God." In biblical times, the word wicked was used to describe those that did not take care of planet earth and God's creation. Dropping the H Bombs, GM foods and cloning would fit into the category of wicked, as would drugging children on pharmaceutical drugs. Dr Peter Breggin states that psychiatrists (USA) sold out to the pharmaceutical industry in the 1970's.
4. “When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the LORD Almighty.”
Who are blind animals? People, in fact Christ said of the USA that they are 'Blind, deaf and dumb'. As you know he also told the Jewish priests that they were blind as well.
Do you know who the governor is?
The governor is the prophet sent from God. ELIAKIM who holds the Key of David mentioned by prophet Isaiah and in many other biblical prophecies. The hebrew word SAR also means governor although it is usually translated as Prince.
5. The LORD then tells you that he will accept no offering from their hands. Why is that? See Rev 17 and 18." Now some Americans have complained that I do not accept what they say, that's because those that complain to me or about me, have nothing to offer me. Another prophecy unveiled that has been fulfilled.

You can also cross reference this prophecy about the USA with Prophet Obadiah. "Though you soar like the eagle, and make your nest amongst the stars, from where I will bring you down declares the LORD'. Most people are aware of the importance of the EAGLE symbology to the USA. The prophecy continues with the criteria of the thieves, robbers, ransacking and hidden treasures pillaged. It tells them that they will not detect what their friends are doing to them.
Can the USA be helped? Yes, the biblical prophecies state that the seed from the hand of Joseph can help them. Why Joseph? When God informed Moses that he would send another prophet like him for the children. Scripture states that Moses asked for the blessing to be given to a descendent of Joseph. England is the land of Joseph, just as Israel is the land of Jacob and the USA is the land of ESAU.
God did keep his promise and send a descendent of Joseph to be the governor and deliver the everlasting covenant mentioned by Prophet Isaiah.
The seed given to the governor to give to the people, is given by God.
