The word 'converted' is the key word in this prophecy. In my humble view this indicates academia and academics that have converted.
Extermination is also to do with eradication of the opposition to the iron. In the past we have spoken about the planned extermination in terms of cultural genocide and the LORD spoke of the daleks that are made of metal, like iron.
In other words the iron, the metal vulcanic energy will seek to exterminate the gold energy that is related to healing humanity. As we know the last battle is happening on planet earth, and the righteous will overcome and shine golden like the sun. The moon turning gold is a good and positive sign.
