Now today, there has been the arrest by the Italian police of a well known mafia boss.
"Italian police have arrested the most senior boss of the Camorra mafia still at large, digging through a secret bunker near Naples to end his 16 years on the run, Italian media reported.
Michele Zagaria, 53, considered to be the leader of the powerful and bloody Casalesi clan, has already been sentenced in absentia to multiple life terms in prison for a career of murder, extortion and drug trafficking.
Zagaria was hidden in a bunker with a thick ceiling of reinforced concrete under a home in the town of Casapesenna, north of Naples." [2] The construction industry was also mentioned in the article and that was no surprise.
Italy seizes €100 million in mafia assets Italian police have seized assets worth €100 million ($139 million) allegedly owned by the Casalesi, one of the most brutal gangs of the Camorra crime syndicate based near Naples. The assets in the Lazio region around Rome included land, factories, car dealerships, luxury cars, bank accounts and villas near the Italian capital. The Casalesi gang are featured in a book called "Gomorrah" by Italian journalist Roberto Saviano that was turned into an award-winning film.[3] Well the name of the book and film was very suitable for the subject matter. In the past the Vatican has defended the Pope's silence on the mafia. [4]
Good one for Italy, now perhaps they would like to arrest the Pope as well for the
crimes against humanity committed by the Church.
