In the philosophy of Buddhism, the refuge is mentioned in terms of the three jewels, the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sanga, the community of enlightened souls and or those that are becoming enlightened. The refuge is also mentioned in the Lotus Sutra and it includes a wish for all sentient beings. This is a Tibetan verse.
- Until I am enlightened,
- I go for refuge to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
- Through the virtue I create by practising giving and the other perfections,
- may I become a Buddha to benefit all sentient beings.
The philosophy of the early Christians was really no different to the philosophy of the Buddha. The three jewels, being Christ, the law and the community that lived by his teachings of becoming masters of self on the path of salvation home to heavenly Father, the ultimate refuge.
Once people have found the refuge within, rarely do people wish to leave that sanctuary of peace that I also call the holy of holies. Hence, why many people like to meditate. However, when you have become that sanctuary of peace 24/7, just imagine how different you have become; to most people that you could meet in the environment outside of your state of being, a refuge for self and others.
In Judaism, the refuge is in the LORD God. "His way is perfect, the LORD's word is flawless, he shields all those that take refuge in him." "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble'. "Trust in him at all times, you people: pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge". That then explains to you why the Son of God always referred his followers to his heavenly Father. He was leading the way to him, as we do our utmost to do.
Isaiah 32, mentions the Kingdom of Righteousness and each one, each person that lives in its state of being, will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land. Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen. That is a lovely vision.
I really see no difference between the divine refuge of being in the heart of peace, with the LORD God and the kind of refuge that Buddhists and other religious people partake in when they go on retreat. The only difference I can see when people live in the divine refuge of the being, they have no desire or wish to leave it at all, ever. The greater the divine refuge, the more alienated the earthly world becomes to the reality in which you live. I have been trying to find the words to describe it for a long time.
In unification, unity and becoming one with the LORD God, it can divorce you from the rest of the world that as absolutely nothing in common with where you are coming from, in your pure and sacred space. Once united with him, you simply cannot leave him, no matter how much you might try. Once you have truly found him, he simply will not let you go again, into an environment that does not value you as heavenly, sacred and divine. If and when he does, it as a divine purpose for being and he goes with you.
The refuge is inside of you, if and when you have the time or put the effort into seek it. When you have found it, it helps you to understand those who found peace of mind, it helps you to understand how those that are housebound survive with no environmental factors impacting on their lives. It also makes one wonder, how those that do not have a sanctuary of peace survive without one.
In some realities of some people, the garden, beach, or their bedroom is their sanctuary, the place where they are most at peace, have you considered whether you have a sanctuary of peace and what it means to you? Do you value its silence and harmony away from the rest of the human race?
I have a sense that this time of preparation in the sacred refuge of the holy of holies is preparing us for what is to come.
Peace beyond measure beloved ones, peace beyond measure

Thankyo and bless you eliakim as this explains my experiences and my miscommunication with you at a much earlier blog. Now io am beginning to understand that something big is happening to me as I have always questioned what different religions were teaching everyone and hence confusion has set on among many Americans and this was done purposefully to control the masses under an almost hypnotic plan....cgjames.. The one...
On my spiritual journey I was led into the many rooms in my Father's house. Each held a different spiritual philosophy. Each were given something special, unique and when you collect all that is important for your own individual journey, you then have the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle and universal truth.
The LORD God did not give any single culture the whole truth and nothing but the truth because he knows the weakness of man.
